The Final Round Bing Lee LG Oceanseries - The Epic Kayaks 20 Beaches Ocean Classic
What a way to wind up the 2009 Bing Lee LG Oceanseries! There were 220 restless paddlers wishing the wind to start blowing from the south and as the briefing got under way the wind gods started to do their work. It was amazing to see so many people turn up for the Epic Kayaks 20 beaches and it was an awesome sight the whole way along the course with so many clusters of paddlers stretched out along the 25km course.
The conditions were fantastic, our hosts at both ends were great so thank you to Manly LSC for their help with setting up the course and providing our registratrion venue and a big thank you to Palm Beach SLSC for their hospitality in the afternoon and providing such a great venue for the Presentations. It looked like everyone enjoyed swapping stories of the race whilst enjoying a cold beer and a steak sandwich.
Thank you to Bing Lee, LG, and Epic Kayaks as the major sponsors of the series, without your contribution, the series and the sport would not continue to grow in popularity. Thanks also to LIfestyle Financial Services and Bennett for their continuous support of the series, they have been involved from day one, so thank you very much. There are many other people to thank including Dez Blanchfield and his Blast team for providing the results throughout the series, Ultra-fit Magazine who have covered the race and provided us with some great reading material, and all those who have made the series possible and provided us with much needed help.
To the clubs who hosted each round of the Oceanseries, Dee Why. Avalon, Bondi, Narrabeen and Manly; thank you for your efforts and running such professional races but also thank you for all the hours that went in from the end of 2008 until now to ensure that the series continues to grow. There have been many planning nights throughout the year and it is wonderful to have the series end on such a positive note.
Most importantly, thank you to all the paddlers who took part in the series. The reason we do this is to provide you with some great racing in a variety of courses whilst still providing a fun day out. We will be taking a short break over Christmas but the planning for 2010 has already began.

Round 5 Bing Lee LG Oceanseries - The Wharf Bar King of the Harbour
Whilst the course was not the traditional King of the Harbour course, organisers saw an opportunity to use the Northerly winds to their advantage and it certainly made the paddlers happy with some great conditions off Long Reef Headland and through the heads. I am sure there were more than a few who felt the pinch once they hit the flatwater of the Harbour but there has been nothing but positive feedback for Saturday's Race. Thanks toRobbie Stewart and the Manly LSC team for all their hardwork.

Round 4 Bing Lee LG Oceanseries - The Narrabeen Downwind Challenge: Final Results and video
You could not ask for better conditions than those we had on Saturday. whilst it was a bit hectic getting to the start of the race due to heavy traffic along Newport it gave the wind gods the chance to start firing up and they did superbly with some great runs all the way down to Fishermans Beach. It was fierce competion once again with Murray Stewart taking line honours from Nathan Smith with some great duels throughout the field in all age categories.
Video is below and results can be viewed by clicking on narrabeen results , series points are currently been updated and will be made available on the results page asap.
Jamie Stewart's report is available by clicking on Narrabeen 2009 race report
Thank you to the Narrabeen team for an amazing event, there has been nothing but good reports from paddlers and spectators alike. Everything about the race was fantastic starting with such a smooth registration, the start was great, the course and conditions amazing, the finish was exciting and everybody has been talking about how good the food was at the end of the race. Again thank you to Narrabeen for such a magnificient job.
Now its all eyes to the 5th round of the series the Wharf Bar King of the Harbour on Saturday 28th November. It is an iconic race and everybody loves to hang around for a few beers after the race on that Jetty Bar swapping stories. Dont forget to do your online entries by midnight on Wednesday 25th November to avoid that $10 surcharge for entries on the day. Final race details will be made available later this week.

Round 3 Bing Lee LG Oceanseries - Bondi to Watsons Bay Race
Congratulations to the Bondi Crew for staging such a wonderful race! We have never been 'over the ditch' before but we will be doing it all again next year after the success of Saturday's Race. The Bondi team were doing this for the very first time and the number of helpers was amazing. They were setting up from early in the morning and with all their manpower, the day ran very smoothly so full credit to them. Every paddler commented on how tricky but exciting the race was and what better way to end the day than with a few beers at the Watsons Bay Hotel. The hotel hosted the presentation on the balcony over looking the finsh line and the day could not have been better for the first Bondi to Watson Bay Race. Good racing, great mates, cold beer and a super location.
Bondi to Watson’s Bay race report
You know you're a long distance paddler when ... you warm up for 12km and still call a 10km race a "flat out sprint". That's just what Tim Jacobs (and a few friends) did this weekend; choosing to paddle rather than drive from Tim's home at Freshwater Beach to the race start at Bondi.
Maybe he thought that juice was cheaper than petrol? Whatever the motivation, the tactic seemed to work, with Tim managing to hang on and win the first Bondi to Watson's Bay race: Race 3 in the Bing Lee LG Oceanseries, in association with Epic Kayaks. Round 2 - Lion Island Challenge video.
